Rust de Winter

In November 2008 we went with the Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa to Rust de Winter. This is a very special 4x4 venue and it is always a wonderful experience.

The camp site has large lovely trees.

The happy group about to set off on Day 1

There was water in the river

Quite a bit of water actually

Onlookers were always there to give advice.

Big drop

Steep climb

There was an easy way up but some wanted to go up the logs - just for the fun of it.

Spectator sport

Help was on hand.

Pulling from one side

And pushing from the other side.

Further up the river.

The bird life is spectacular. This is a Woodland Kingfisher and it has a loud trill call

The next day off on the trail - Sylvia at the wheel.

Go left

Now right

Up there

Hold on just going ahead to look.

That is it down there.

Come on do not be afraid!

Good grief!

A bit better.

Down the rocks again.

Turn left - do not worry. . .

And through the bush

And down a bit more.

Rust de Winter is always a really wonderful 4x4 experience with quite a bit of technical driving.
