We hope that you enjoy the pictures and blurb on our web site.
This site used to be maintained under www.icon.co.za/~siggyb but I am happy to now have the much easier to use url of www.siggy.co.za. I have thought about completely redesigning the page but decided that it is easy to maintain and use as the latest posts are at the top of the left window and being one of the elderly know what a pain it is to navigate through a maze of clicks and moving pictures and sometimes even awful sounds or music to get to the thing I am looking for.
Please note that many (actually most) of the pictures are stored externally in Picasa (in hindsight it was a wonderful decision to call the pictures from Picasa otherwise I would have had to reload them all) and sometimes you may have to reload the page a few times before all the pictures load properly. If you are using Mozilla Firefox you could right click on any unopened files and reload just those files. At some time in the future the pictures I have stored may disappear and not load. To my horror I have noted that lots of the pictures in my older pages do not load properly in Firefox. HOWEVER IF YOU RIGHT CLICK ON THE BLOCK AND SELECT "OPEN IN A NEW TAB" THE PICTURE WILL BE DISPLAYED IN THE TAB. THE PICTURES OPEN CORRECTLY IN SOME BROWSERS LIKE EXPLORER. AT LONG LAST MAYBE I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION - USE CHROME!! Since the demise of Picasa in about August 2016 I have been forced to move over to YouTube. If you like better quality the viewing setting in YouTube should be 1080 HD. LCCSA is an abbreviation for Land Cruiser Club - Southern Africa - a web based user group which we belong to. We also used to belong to The Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa. The Afrikaans club - "Radio Sonder Grense 4x4 Klub", hosted by Francois Rossouw, is where we have also met many wonderful friends. His website is 4x4sport.co.za If you are using Mozilla Firefox as a browser you can enlarge or reduce the size of the pictures (or text) by pressing (Cntrl +) or (Cntrl -). If you are not that concerned about quality this may be a good way of viewing pages where you could click on the thumbnails to enlarge the pictures. You could also move the left bar to where you want it. In December 1999 we got stuck in the mud in the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park - now known as the Kalagadi Transfrontier Park. We were in a Mercedes Benz car. It was not a four wheel drive. (Inconsequential as this may sound - it was an important event.) The other lifestyle changing trip was to Zimbabwe in January 2000. Shorthly after that we obtained our first 4x4. In November 2001 we did the Bundu Trail at Rust de Winter and that changed our perspective of what could be done in a 4x4. This web page was started in 2006 and there are a lots of pictures which were never loaded from 1999. Now I have started to add some of the older pictures but may not have added any blurb. The beginning was our Indian Island Cruise . These pictures mean things to us and hopefully some people who have been to the places will recognise some scenes. It takes a lot of work to add the pictures from Picasa to the web pages as I have somehow lost the ability of loading them in bulk and have to load each picture individually. Therefore in some of the earlier pages I have just supplied the Picasa links and the pictures can be viewed there. There are lots of pictures linked to our site and we hope that you do not get too bored. As I proceed and look back I have begun to load what I think are the most interesting scenic trips first. We have been extremely fortunate to have enjoyed traveling to places that many people can only dream of visiting.
Some of our activities may not appeal to you . . .
