Part 3 of 6
From Khama Rhino Sanctuary to Kubu Island and on to Planet Baobab via Sua Pan
Thursday 5 March
On our way to Kubu Island we stopped for a snack. This was the first sign that it might be wet.
Wetter.
Sylvia posing at the sign.
Ducks swimming in the road - maybe an omen!
The Tracks4Africa route showed straight ahead. I declined. I walked around the edge of the pan for a considerable distance with Sylvia following in the vehicle.
The alternate route. 360degrees water and for the first time I am very concerned.
Springbok on the pan. It was lovely to see so many.
Our camp site under the Baobab.
Another Baobab.
A Baobab flower - probably not more than two days old. They are white when they first appear and they are pollinated by bats.
Various scenes at Kubu Island.
Attractive seeds of the Purple Pod Terminalia.
Sylvia chasing the bull.
The sunset.
Friday 6 March
On our way in I was too concerned to take pictures. These were taken on our way out. Fortunately the ground was firm under the water. The problem was not knowing how deep it was. The whole area was under water not just the track.
What appears to be three Baobab trees. One standing and two that have fallen. The gnarled bits are part of the roots.
Sua Pan is lovely but it is difficult to capture the scene with a camera.
We have decided to head for Planet Baobab as we have not been there before.
