Part 2 of 6
From Khutse to Khama Rhino Sanctuary - Botswana
Tuesday 3 March
We thought about going across the cut line and would have gone that way had there been another vehicle with us. The people at the gate said that this route would be "difficult" and I dislike any form of hard labour.
This picture shows one of the tracks between Lethlakeng and the B112. This is a lovely track and our only concern ever is if we break down.
We decided to spoil ourselves and stay in the hut rather than camp as it was wet.
The huts are nice. We were visited by a squirrel which found our rusks in a plastic container on the table while we were out for a while. It looks as if it knew about food being stored in the huts.
A glimpse of a rhino behind the Impala.
Springbok.
Zebra.
Eland.
Pretty yellow creeper.
The light on this bird looked lovely.
Khama is renowned for its rhinos.
Cardinal Woodpeckers.
Plover.
This is the cocoon and if you touch it while the owner is inside it will drive its sharp bristles into you.
Zebra foal.
Wildebeest.
Wildebeest resting
Dung beetle rolling along.
More dung beetles on a rhino midden.

Steenbok. This one was just a few feet away and it did not move as we walked to the bird hide. Unfortunately the light was not good.

Springbok.
Rhino with a long horn.

Leaving Khama Rhino Sanctuary.
Greater Painted Snipe. We were happy to see this bird.
You are almost certainly assured of seeing rhino at Khama Rhino Sanctuary and there are lots of animals.
We had dinner in the restaurant and the meal was "average"
They do not accept credit cards so you have to pay in Pula.
The accommodation is nice.
