On Saturday 22 May 2010, early in the morning, before sunrise, well before actually, we set off for Pretoria where we planned to cook breakfast on a hilltop in or about Pretoria or Tshwane - well at Garstfontein/Erasmuskloof according to Garmap's Streetmaps. (People had been there before as some tracks had been recorded on Tracks4Africa.)

Well as usual we took a camera along. I am getting worse by the day and failed to carefully record the names of the attendees.

The open invitation (I took it as such) to attend was originally posted on the LCCSA web site by Martiens Booysen on 19 May 2010. If my memory serves me correctly I believe sixteen vehicles turned up which I thought was a good showing.

The little drive in the bushes was pleasant - with a river crossing, some ascents and some descents and some flat bits in between.

We drove up the hill to a spot where some cooked and some did not. I believe that maybe not all ate - but we did offer sustenance to some but the offer was declined. (If we had not brought food and someone had offered food to me I would have accepted.)

We got back home around lunch time and I said maybe I would load the pictures later (like much later - like in a few days) but Sylvia said I should do it fast as people liked to get the pictures soon.

For the technically minded we took one hundred and thirty eight snaps. Two were blurred and we ditched them. We then chose forty. The largest picture that we chose was around 9 megs in .jpg and about 10,23 in nef. The forty pictures at 3872x2592 used 237.7mb and when reduced to 800x600 came to 16,64mb. I loaded the reduced forty to Picasa and then made the links in this page.

The snaps follow. In many (most) cases names are missing but I will happily add them if you supply them to me. (One of my many weaknesses is that I am less than hopeless with names - I need to see people a number of times before I remember the names and then if ever I have to introduce them my mind goes blank.)

I have also dared to add some comments. (A privilege if I make the web page - make your own if you are not happy!)

Some of the vehicles in the morning light.

Chewers

It was not hot - hence the warm fire was pleasant.

More posers.

Roland Bergh - Fried eggs, tomatoes, toast and sausages - looks lovely.

Sonadia & Seppie Geldenhuys - Martiens & Minke Booysen

Salo checking the camera.

I do not build roads - I just look on. In this case I made no comment.

Salo getting out the way.

I can not help it but when I see someone facing me with their hands up - I look in the rear view mirror!

Camouflage.

Shortly after this we went home. (Not because of this - we both like this.)

Thank you all for a most entertaining morning. We are glad that we went.

14:40 - 22 May 2010 - done - well at least first draft.
