We arrived in Cape Town on 2 March 2010. As we drove along I called on the radio and Bee de Klerk answered and suggested that we have a B&B with some of the Cape members.

On Thursday Mar 04, 2010 12:50 pm Bee de Klerk posted on the LCCSA web page as follows:

"Cape B&B with Siggy and Sylvia Bishop, La Romantica, Drbnvil

Siggy and Sylvia Bishop are visiting Cape Town, and since they are such wonderful people, I thought that some of the Cape boys and girls should meet them. Anybody who had the pleasure of the Bishop’s company on a trip will know what I’m talking about.
And, it’s also time for some “dopkontak” again.
So tomorrow, Friday the 5th, we will have a Siggy and Sylvia B&B at La Romantica, Wellington Rd, Durbanville, lets say from 4 pm. We’ve booked the outside patio under Land Cruiser Club.
Be there "

We have no internet connection when we travel so I only saw the above post on our return home.

At so very short notice Sylvia and I expected a small turnout but - wow - what a surprise - lots of people came.

Demands have been received from the attendees for the pictures and it has taken a few hours to transfer them to my desktop and partly sort them. Because of this I will have to rearrange the way I make the trip report and the items will not be in order.

Amazingly all the following people attended at such short notice. It was lovely to see old friends again and meet some new ones.

Gentle reveling took place and Sylvia and I really enjoyed ourselves. Some of the images are below:

And last but not least the Peroni Beer Sellers

We often reflect how privileged we are to belong to the Land Cruiser Club Southern Africa where we have such good times with really wonderful people.

As we were packing I asked Sylvia whether we should bother to bring the VHF radio as we would be alone for the trip. Sylvia said yes and we only started to hear people on the radio as we approached Cape Town where most of the chat had nothing to do with the club. Sylvia was driving and I called on the radio and Bee answered. As a result we had this lovely gathering.

And then during the course of the evening ...

Christo Giliomee invited us to use his cottage at Noetzie near Knysna. I warned him that we may take him up on the offer and as we left Cape Town I phoned him and he gave me directions how to get there.

What a wonderful place. Magic.

On Monday 8 March 2010 at around 6pm we arrived at Noetzie after leaving Cape Town fairly late in order to avoid the city traffic that morning .

The view from the verandah or bedroom upstairs. You can see and hear the waves landing on the beach over the lagoon.

Thank you Christo for allowing us to stay at this wonderful place - it was a special experience and I could have happily stayed for weeks.
