Sunday 12 April 2009
Today there was the option of doing the "extreme" bit or going on a trail. Fortunately - very fortunately actually - we had decided to do the Game Drive Route on the first day and the "Molopo Route" was done at the same time and now - today - when we decided to do it - only two groups decided to go. So we set off with Andre and Jenny van Zyl and their entourage of children. (Three boys).
The double story nest on the way with duiweltjie flowers below.
The convoy.
The entrance to Riemvasmaak.
Steep - pictures do not always do justice to slopes.
Andre has advised us to wait a moment.
Looking back.
The very significant step at the end of the track.
Where the track meets on the other side.
The step on the other side. - Now this is a place where I would like to see ladders used!
Looking down to make sure it was impassable.
The track.
That is better.
We are on the right route.
The three aforementioned.
Getting a bit serious.
Time to admire the view.
Sylvia peering through the hole in the rock.
Sylvia under the Shepherd's Tree.
High ground clearance is good here..
Wildlife - a Vervet Monkey.
Minor road construction. Glad we were in the rear at this stage. Good to have young strong hands around.
This is a story on its own.
This dog looked sad.
On the other side.
This track is NOT on Tracks4Africa and is here as a reminder of the route we forged.
The view site.
In the stones
Lots of stones.
